🐟 JBS is set to acquire Huon Aquaculture, Australia’s second-largest salmon producer, for approximately A$546 million, marking its first foray into the aquaculture business.

🐓 Cargill and Continental Grain Company are joining forces to buy chicken producer Sanderson Farms for $4.53 billion, creating a “best-in-class US poultry company.” 

🚜 John Deere is acquiring Bear Flag Robotics, which develops autonomous driving technology that is compatible with existing machines, for $250 million, to continue creating added-value solutions for its customers.

🥬 Kalera is acquiring German vertical farming operation &Ever, which grows rocket, coriander and other plants in automated greenhouses for sale to supermarkets and restaurants, for €130 million, allowing Kalera to instantly expand its international footprint.

🐟 Gathered Foods, the parent company behind plant-based seafood brand Good Catch, has announced a strategic partnership with Dot Foods, the largest food redistributor in North America, which will supply its products across the US.

🌱 Snack startup Belliwell, co-founded by IBS-sufferer Katie Wilson, currently sells a line of gut health-friendly,  gluten-free, plant-based nutrition bars containing probiotics, and is planning on bringing out more flavours this autumn after a successful soft launch earlier this year.

🥪 Deliveroo has launched a ‘Friends’-inspired vegan version of the “My Sandwich” from season 5, episode 9, made with layers of plant-based turkey, egg-free mayo, and a vegan gravy-drenched middle layer of bread, designed for people returning to work as pandemic restrictions ease.

🧫 Singapore’s cell-based seafood pioneer Shiok Meats announced its 90% acquisition of Southeast Asia’s first cultivated red meat startup Gaia Foods, to create a “collaborative mindset” that helps to add value to the industry.

🐟 JBS is set to acquire Huon Aquaculture, Australia’s second-largest salmon producer, for approximately A$546 million, marking its first foray into the aquaculture business.

🐓 Cargill and Continental Grain Company are joining forces to buy chicken producer Sanderson Farms for $4.53 billion, creating a “best-in-class US poultry company.” 

🚜 John Deere is acquiring Bear Flag Robotics, which develops autonomous driving technology that is compatible with existing machines, for $250 million, to continue creating added-value solutions for its customers.

🥬 Kalera is acquiring German vertical farming operation &Ever, which grows rocket, coriander and other plants in automated greenhouses for sale to supermarkets and restaurants, for €130 million, allowing Kalera to instantly expand its international footprint.

🛍 US grocery delivery giant Gopuff has acquired London-based on-demand grocery delivery startup Dija for an undisclosed amount, marking Gopuff’s second acquisition in Europe and a potential sign of more to come.

🌱 Nestlé’s Freshly Inc. is launching its first line of plant-based meals, Purely Plant, which feature proprietary plant protein blends and offer a twist of classic comfort foods and globally-inspired cuisine.

🍕 Pizza Hut has added new Beyond Pepperoni, which apparently crisps in the same way as regular pepperoni, to the menus at 70 of its locations across five cities in the US.

🍻 PepsiCo’s Mountain Dew is set to enter the alcoholic beverage sector, collaborating with The Boston Beer Co. to create Hard Mtn Dew, a new flavored malt beverage with alcohol by volume of 5%.

🌮 Taco Bell is launching a new, drive-thru-centric, store prototype, which it claims will “simplify drive-thru time significantly”. Each Taco Bell Defy location will include four drive-thru lanes, three of which will be dedicated to mobile orders and pickups for delivery, for speedy service.

💪 Arla Food Ingredients has unveiled a new whey protein ingredient in response to demand for clean label yoghurts with a healthier nutritional profile.
