💵 The transparent grocer €5 for a 250g of minced meat. €1.75 for milk. That's what a recent study says you should be paying after factoring in the hidden environmental costs behind products - like the effects of greenhouse gases during production and the energy requirements.

Now a German retailer wants to experiment with opening a new sustainability store in Berlin where customers will see both the retail price and the 'true cost' of their shopping cart. (Article in German).

🇨🇳 Beyond Meat is building two production facilities in China’s eastern province of Zhejiang. The move makes it the first foreign plant-based protein maker to establish a major production facility in China - the world's largest meat producer, consumer, and importer.

🔍 Meetthe 13 startups from Brinc's online Demo day. Like Singaporean startup, Shandi Global who is developing technology that will enable it to manufacture plant-based meat substitutes that have amino acid and protein profiles that are similar to real meats, and thus have more flexible use cases than the current offerings of patties, nuggets and sausages.

🍕Domino’s has just launched a vegan-friendly range in its 1,200 locations across the UK, as it responds to the rising demand for vegan fast food. The vegan-friendly range consists of two 100% vegan pizzas and a vegan version of the company’s Garlic and Herb Dip.

🌾 Farm-to market NYC-based vertical farming company Farm.One announced today it has launched a mini-farm inside the newly opened Whole Foods Market in Manhattan West.

🍄 PLT health solution producer of the novel powdered Vitamin D exclusively made mushrooms has received an approval by the European Food Safety Authority to be used in food products. This ingredient offers 40,000 International Unit of Vit D/gram and can be used among clean label positioned products.

👀 One to watch: Pearl by Grow. What happens to all those little ketchup packets that pile up in the bin at your local burger joint? Truth is - they go straight to a landfill. Single-serve sachets are used for everything from ketchup and soy sauce to shampoo and detergent. And they're a big problem.

🦪 Enter Pearl. A fiber-based alternative to plastic sample packets. Whilst still not on the market, the alt-packaging product recently bagged first place in Dielines plastic-free award and is in line with rising consumer demand for sustainable green-packaging solutions.

📉 Whats down: Wildlife 🦓 A new report shows that nearly 70% of the world’s wild animals have been wiped out over the last 50 years. Another 1M species are on the brink of extinction and landmass equaling 8x the size of the UK has been lost. (also: Graph #4)

, raises $20M to provide tech for commercial kitchens, allowing restaurants to get food to customers without the expense and hassle of running a dining room or storefront. Speaking of: a new 60-page report that uncovers 41 properties owned by CloudKitchens' parent, City Storage Systems.

🐂 Iron Ox raises $20M as they stride towards their aim of expanding their network of high-tech automated farms in the US.

🦟 Trapview, raised €3.7M  for their pest insect monitoring and forecasting platform first developed by Slovenian company Efos.

☕️ Bruvi raises $3.15M to continue providing their tech-savvy coffee lovers with sustainable, remotely managed coffee machine.

🌱 Abillionveg collects $3M as they continue building their global network of people and companies that care about this planet with their sustainability app.
