🤑 Reef Technology raised an unbelievable $700M to revitalise underutilised urban spaces into what it calls ‘neighbourhood hubs’, including the introduction of moveable ghost kitchens. 🦾 UK online retailer Ocado is spending $287M on two US robotics companies, to ‘accelerate the development’ of its robot picking solutions.

🇨🇳 China’s pioneer food tech venture capital firm Bits x Bites has raised $30M in the first close of its new $70M fund. Its mandate is to invest exclusively in the agrifood-tech sector, particularly within the Chinese market.

🇳🇱 Netherlands-based alternative protein ingredient developers The Protein Brewery secured $22M series A funding to cover its R&D activities and scale up production of its flagship product, Fermotein.

🥩 Israeli startup MeaT Tech 3D, which is in the process of acquiring, Peace of Meat, closed a $7M in funding for further development of its 3D bioprinting cultivated meat technology, in the same week as it filed for IPO in the USA.

🥛 UK dairy product supplier Ornua Foods announced a £3M investment in its Leek factory, creating an additional 7000 tonnes of capacity per year, in response to strong consumer demand for its cheese.

🍅 Becoming organic certified organic in the US can be a long, expensive process, and currently only 1% of land in the US is certified organic, despite a booming market. There are various organisations trying to increase this number, and Rodale Institute just invested $2M in Iroquois Valley to fund the financing of additional land access for farmers.

🍄 Fermented mushroom protein producer Mycotechnology has been announced as the winner of the Radicle Protein Challenge this week, beating 150 other applicants and bagging a $1M prize.

🍺 Home-brew appliance developers MiniBrew secured unspecified funding to continue its operations after months of pandemic-related delays.
