  • 💰 Food tech-focused venture capital fund Blue Horizon Ventures announced its first flagship funding total, an impressive €183M. Its principal investments will be in alternative proteins, synthetic biology, cell-based food, smart packaging and food waste.

  • 🦘 London-based online delivery platform Deliveroo raised £132M in its latest funding round, taking its funding total to £1.3Bn and valuing the company at approximately £5.1Bn. It plans to invest in its business, through expanding its on-demand delivery service and offering its signature service to restaurants in order to increase their sales.
  • 🛒 Imperfect Foods closed a $95M series D round, bringing its total funding to $214.1M. The firm’s online grocery service reduces food waste by ‘rescuing’ surplus or cosmetically imperfect foods and selling them directly to consumers at discounted prices.
  • 🐟 San Diego cell-based food tech BlueNalu secured $60M to open its planned 40,000 square foot pilot production facility to begin producing its cultivated seafood, ahead of its planned product trial across foodservice outlets in the US later this year.
  • 🚜 Bear Flag Robotics closed a $7.9M seed round extension, bringing its total funding to $12.5M, to increase its fleet of autonomous tractors which relieve farm labour pressure by allowing top operators to manage several at once.
