💬 Chinese e-grocer Nice Tuan raised $750M for its community-buying platform, which allows consumers to form groups via its WeChat mini-program and collectively purchase farm produce and groceries in bulk at a competitive price.

🛍 Spanish delivery service Glovo closed €450M to expand its ‘q-commerce’ service, which delivers take-out, groceries and other items to urban consumers in under 30 minutes.

💰Livekindly Collective secured $335M, bringing its total funding raised in its first year to $535M and making it one of the top three highest-funded plant-based firms globally. It will use the funds to accelerate its expansion into growth geographies, including the United States and China, and fuel its acquisitions, key partnerships and investments in plant-based innovation.

🛵 Turkish ten-minute grocery delivery service Getir closed $300M series C funding to fuel its expansion into the Netherlands, Germany and France. Its speedy service, operated via a number of smaller distribution centers that are set up in different neighborhoods within a city, essentially turns grocery delivery into a utility which is available on tap.

🛍 Milan-based online grocery marketplace Everli secured €85.2M series C funding to accelerate its growth plans and further extend its international footprint. The platform allows customers to choose their favourite supermarket and order products for same-day delivery via dedicated Everli shoppers.

🍄 US firm Ecovative raised $60M to scale up production of its mycelium-based products, which include everything from bacon to leather, that are sustainable and high quality.

🚜 Parisian agtech Augmenta secured $8M series A funding. It retrofits tractors with ‘smart tech’ capabilities, such as its AI-powered ‘field analyser’ or its automatic pesticide-spraying service, which allows farmers to automate multiple operations in both high and low value crops.

🌾 St Louis-based agtech CoverCress closed $8M for its winter ‘cash cover crop’, well-suited to different geographies or climates, designed via plant breeding and genome editing techniques to provide farmers with a cover crop which doubles up as a cash crop.

🥜 Allergy Amulet secured $4.1M seed funding for its portable device which detects food allergens. Given that, in the US alone, 200,000 people each year require medical care because of allergic reactions to food (and we all know US healthcare ain’t free!), this could be a game changer for those affected.

🥛 Shark Tank billionaire Mark Cuban invested $2M, his biggest vegan investment to date, in Numilk, which is a machine designed for consumers to make their own plant-based milk at home.

🍵 Paris-based Sensaterra raised €1M to launch its digital platform for selling coffee, tea, herbal tea, hot chocolate and hot beverage equipment directly from artisans to consumers.

🍯 MeliBio closed $850k seed funding for its plant-based honey, made through precision fermentation and synthetic biology to be molecularly identical to real honey but without the bees.

🍿 Warburtons has invested £250k in sorghum snack brand Insane Grain, marking its second Batch Venture investment. The startup will use the funding to support its first major supermarket listing into Sainsbury’s.

🦘Australian startup Deliciou raised an undisclosed seed round to continue expanding global distribution of its shelf-stable plant-based meat alternatives, marking it as the first Aussie startup to join US alt protein VC Stray Dog Capital’s portfolio.

  • Bell Food Group is acquiring Aryzta Switzerland’s sandwich production business for an undisclosed sum to solidify its position in the freshly-prepared sandwiches market.
  • Squarespace is acquiring hospitality management tool Tock for $400M to incorporate the online platform’s features for managing reservations, tables, takeout and more into its website-building tools.
