New In Funding: From Super Coffee’s $500M Valuation to Butternut Box’s Series D Raise

💰Chris Sacca’s climate-tech focused fund Lowercarbon Capital has raised $800 million to “keep unf*cking the planet”. Based on their recent job application, we predict there’s soon to be an uptick in funding towards Synbio Startups.

👨‍🌾 80 Acres Farms raised $160M Series B funding for its network of eight indoor farms, which currently serve around 600 retail and foodservice locations. The startup claims to have posted 450% growth in revenue since the end of last year.

☕️ Better-for-you coffee brand Super Coffee’s parent company, Kitu Life, secured $106M Series C funding at $500M+ valuation, to expand product distribution and increase brand-building efforts.

💦 Beverage tech firm Cirkul closed $30M Series B funding for its customisable hydration solutions. Its flavour cartridges can be inserted into its patented water bottles to release flavours and functional ingredients, per consumer preferences.

🍤 XpertSea secured $20M Series B funding to bring its data-driven marketplace, which connects shrimp farmers with vetted buyers to improve cash flow and unlock growth, to new international markets, following 1000% revenue growth in Latin America.

🌾 Nitricity closed $5M seed funding for its tech which allows farmers to produce renewable nitrogen fertiliser at point-of-use, eliminating hazardous supply chains and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

🛍 The Nordics’ first homegrown speedy grocery delivery service, Kavall, secured €4.9M. It launched in May and so far has one dark store in Stockholm, but has plans for expansion.

🍫 QOA, which makes 100% cocoa-free sustainable chocolate via precision fermentation, closed a pre-seed round this week to support its quest to replace traditional chocolate in all mass market products by 2035.

Wild Earth CEO and friend of Mzansi, Ryan Bethencourt, stated that “Africa will be the engine of innovation that drives humanity forward over the next few decades,” so we can’t wait to see what’s next.
