💡 The Digest

CH4 Global co-founder Steve Meller

📈 What’s Up: South Australia’s seaweed industry is booming, and could be worth A$140M a year, with the potential to create 1,200 jobs, thanks to its role in cutting carbon emissions.

📉 What’s Down: Gorillas may be sailing into a perfect storm of pissed off workers, poor data privacy standards, and massive burn rate. Is it enough to scare off investors from their massive $600M raise (a decreased ask from their original $1B)? Time will tell — though it’ll take longer than 10 minutes.

💸 New In Funding

🦄 US speedy delivery service Gopuff raised $1 billion in its latest funding round, bringing its total valuation to $15 billion, to accelerate its expansion across North America, the UK and Europe.

📦 Estonian startup Bolt, which started out as a ride-sharing taxi app, closed a €600M funding round, increasing its valuation to more than €4 billion, to boost its new grocery delivery service, Bolt Market.

🍔 Australian plant-based protein startup v2food raised A$72M Series B funding, bringing its total raised to A$185M and its valuation to over A$500M in just 2.5 years. The company will use the fresh funds to accelerate its expansion into China and Europe.

🧀 Miyoko’s Creamery secured $52M Series C funding to extend distribution and fuel R&D of its plant-based dairy products, including a brand new vegan liquid pizza mozzarella, due to launch later this year.

🇨🇭Swiss alternative protein startup Planted raised $21M pre-B funding to accelerate its growth and extend its product range, which includes a new veggie schnitzel
