📈 What’s Up: Food is Gen Z’s top spending priority, taking a 23% share of their wallet, according to a report by Piper Sandler. The youngsters are also leaning heavily towards healthier eating, with 54% preferring healthy snacks and 49% already consuming or willing to try plant-based meat.

📉 What’s Down: A recent report revealed that not all food categories have post-pandemic staying power. Experts at Numerator launched a COVID-19 Buyer Habit Index which compares repeat purchase behaviour. Perhaps unsurprisingly, though, wine is ‘sticky’, i.e. very likely to be repurchased!

The Canadian government has announced a CAD 691M program of investment to support its poultry farmers, aimed at helping them increase their competitiveness and become more sustainable.

💸 Funding: See all 17 rounds here including Hazel Technologies $70M series C to fight food waste, Atlast Food's $40M round for mycelium meat and Revo Foods €1.5M for 3D-printed plant-based salmon.
